Our Policies

Our mission is to create better working environments for everyone involved in the production of Trendhim products and minimise the impact our activities have on the environment. We require all suppliers to sign the following policies before working with us. Through this and other initiatives, we are able to create more open and transparent partnerships, and address some of the challenges endemic to our industry.

Code of Conduct

Our Code of Conduct reflects our values and is based on key United Nations and International Labour Organization conventions, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. By signing it, our suppliers agree to be held to the same standard. Suppliers who show a commitment to these principles within their business are those with whom we wish to build a business partnership. Transparency is essential to our goal of a more sustainable supply chain and we expect transparency from our suppliers.

The principles of this Code extend to all factories contracted by us and all workers employed by those factories, regardless of their status or relationship with suppliers.

Environmental protection

Environmental issues are factored into every decision we make about our offices, warehouse, and logistics, and we strongly urge our suppliers to do the same. We encourage them to follow our example and take steps to improve sustainability and reduce their impact on the environment. Actions such as monitoring emissions, responsible water handling, and proper waste disposal can have a huge impact. Every bit helps.

Human Rights

Respect for human rights should be at the core of every business. It is at ours. To increase transparency and address the challenges our industry faces, our Code of Conduct includes a Human & Labour Rights Policy. We’re an equal opportunity employer that values diversity and inclusion in our organisation. Our suppliers must comply with laws and regulations prohibiting discrimination against employees based on race, caste, colour, nationality, religion, gender, age, sexual orientation, or marital status.

Labour Rights

Our suppliers must not use forced or illegal labour, or prison labour in any of their production units. The workers must sign a contract upon the start of their employment and have the right to terminate it according to national law.

Working hours must adhere to national limits and not exceed 60 hours per week, including overtime. Moreover, workers should receive at least one rest day in a seven-day period and be free to refuse overtime without fear of job loss or other disciplinary action. Furthermore, employees should have the right to join or form any trade union of their choice without fear of harassment, intimidation, or other adverse reactions.

Health & Safety

We owe the great quality of our products to the people working behind the scenes. Supply chains in our industry are complex, and we show respect for the hard work put into creating our products by standing up for workers’ rights. Our policy states that all workers must be provided with safe and healthy working conditions. Any decision made or action taken by our suppliers must not compromise their workers’ health or safety.

Our audit program enlists third-party watchdog organisations such as BSCI, Sedex, and SMETA to ensure our suppliers are in compliance with our Code of Conduct.

ANIMAL WELFARE POLICY

We will not accept harm to animals in the name of fashion. Our animal welfare policy states that animals used for our products must not be exposed to pain and must be treated with dignity and respect according to animal welfare laws and international recommendations. All our suppliers have signed our Animal Welfare Policy.

We expect our suppliers to follow the 5 Animal Freedoms:

  • Freedom from hunger and thirst
  • Freedom from discomfort
  • Freedom from pain, injury, and disease
  • Freedom to express normal behaviour
  • Freedom from fear and distress

ANTI-CORRUPTION POLICY

Corruption is defined as the misuse of power for private gain. Our policy echoes the UN Convention Against Corruption and following it is a strict requirement for all our suppliers. It is essential that both we and our partners avoid conflict of interest, bribery, extortion, fraudulent behavior, receiving gifts, and nepotism. As stated before, transparency is the key, and we want to build strong relationships based on honesty and trust. We want all our suppliers to join us on this mission.

CHILD LABOUR POLICY

Our suppliers are obligated to sign the Child Labour Policy in which they declare adherence to all relevant ILO conventions. The policy states that employees must meet applicable minimum age requirements. We do not accept any form of underage labour. Children are only employed if local law allows, they are fully safeguarded from exploitation, protected from health hazards, and allowed to further their education. Young workers should only perform light work that does not involve heavy lifting, working with dangerous chemicals, or proximity to dangerous machinery. If child labour is detected at the production unit, the supplier must take measures in the best interest of the child.

CHEMICAL RESTRICTIONS POLICY

Our testing program strategically checks our products for hazardous chemicals. Our requirements regarding chemicals are aligned with REACH. Our chemical test programme is developed in cooperation with BUREAU VERITAS. Tests on products are performed locally using criteria relevant to our markets.

Suppliers must follow requirements on documentation concerning Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC-list) in all products imported to the EU.
